CRESCO5

The CRESCO5 cluster located in Portici was decommissioned on 06/06/2019.

The nodes of the CRESCO5 cluster were reused in the Cloud system of the DTE-ICT division.

Cluster Features

The CRESCO5 cluster in Portici is a computing system composed of 40 compute nodes.

Each node includes:

  • 2 sockets with 8 cores Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v3 processors with a clock frequency of 2.40 GHz and 64 GB RAM

  • 4 GB per core, 16 instructions per clock cycle

  • InfiniBand QDR interface (40 Gb/s, 32 Gb/s effective bandwidth)

  • Two GbE network interfaces

  • BMC/IPMI 1.8 support and software for remote console management

Overall the system provides 640 CPU cores interconnected through a low-latency, high-bandwidth network based on InfiniBand 4xQDR (40 Gb/s) managed by a Qlogic 12800 switch.

The architecture of a CRESCO5 node is represented in the following scheme:
