AFS === The Andrew File System (AFS) is a distributed file system which uses a set of trusted servers to present a homogeneous, location-transparent file name space to all the client workstations. It was developed by Carnegie Mellon University as part of the Andrew Project. Originally named "Vice", "Andrew" refers to Andrew Carnegie and Andrew Mellon. Its primary use is in distributed computing. User HOME structure -------------------- All users on all ENEAGRID computing nodes share the same file space which is based on the AFS/OpenAFS file system. User HOME directory is ``/afs/enea.it/user/site/`` The same directory is also available at ``/afs/enea.it/user//``. The default structure of the user **HOME** contains the following directories: - **~/private** the directory is readable only for the user - **~/public** the directory is readable by any user - **~/public_html** the directory is readable by any user and its content is published on the web at the address: ``http://www.afs.enea.it/``. - **~/rem** the directory contains the mount points for volumes remote sites; a request for AFS volumes on remote sites must be done to the AFS administrators - **~/PFS** the directory contains the links to the available Parallel File Systems. To have more information about the Parallel File System present on a specific cluster, go to the PFS documentation. AFS commands ------------- The most useful commands for AFS are listed in the following table: .. list-table:: :header-rows: 1 :widths: 25 25 * - COMMAND - DESCRIPTION * - klog < username > - To get a new token (for authentication) * - unlog < cell name > - for destory token * - tokens - to list own token * - fs help - help online on FS * - fs whereis < dir/path > - get the name of the file server machine of the specified directory * - fs checkservers - file server state * - fs listquota < path > - get the disk quota for the specified path * - fs quota < path > - get the percentage of disk quota for the specified path * - fs listacl < path > - show the ACL for the path * - fs setacl < path > < ACL entry > - set ACL for the specified path * - fs copyacl < source dir > < dest dir > - copy the ACL of resurce directory to one or more destination directories * - pts help - help online on PTS * - pts creategroup < user:group > - Create group * - pts adduser < bg user > < group > - Add user to group * - pts removeuser < user > < group > - remove user to group * - pts delete < group > - delete group Other Information ------------------ For more information about the AFS refer to the following sections: .. grid:: 3 :gutter: 3 .. grid-item-card:: Introduction to AFS :link: afs_introduction :link-type: doc :class-card: sd-shadow-md sd-p-3 Here there are the general information about AFS .. grid-item-card:: How to use WARC :link: warc :link-type: doc :class-card: sd-shadow-md sd-p-3 AFS users can manage their projects by using WARC utility. # .. grid-item-card:: Client Installation # :link: client_installation # :link-type: doc # :class-card: sd-shadow-md sd-p-3 # # OpenAFS client installation and configuration with Kerberos5 .. toctree:: :hidden: afs_introduction warc # client_installation
