CRESCO3 ================================ Description of the **CRESCO3 cluster located in Portici**, decommissioned on **March 13, 2018**. .. note:: The decommissioned nodes of the **CRESCO3 cluster** have been generally reused in the **Cloud infrastructure of the DTE-ICT division**. Two chassis, for a total of **8 compute nodes**, are currently operating at the **Italian Antarctic base** as part of the system: CRESCO3 in Antarctica. Cluster Features ---------------- The **CRESCO3 cluster** located in Portici is a computing system composed of **84 servers** with the following characteristics: - **2 AMD® sockets** with **Opteron® 6234 processors**, **12 cores**, **2.4 GHz**, **64 GB RAM** - **1 × 500 GB SATA II disk** - **InfiniBand QDR interface** - **Two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces** - **1 video card** - **BMC/IPMI 2.0 support** and software for **remote console management** Overall, the system provides a total of **2016 CPU cores** interconnected through a **low-latency network based on InfiniBand 4xQDR at 40 Gbps**, managed by a **Qlogic 12800 switch**. The architecture of the **AMD Opteron 6234** processor is illustrated in the following diagram. .. image:: clusters/cresco3_image1.jpg :align: center :width: 1600px |
